Check of cutting rings with FA45
Task:
Cutting rings which are carried by a vibratory conveyor have to be checked for correct position.

Parts in wrong position are removed sidewards using pressurized air. The cutting rings have an outer diameter of either 11 or 15 mm. A conventional light barrier supplies the trigger signal. The rings are unused and clean with a metallic bright surface.

Solution: FA 45 with pattern matching, mounted on the side of the conveyor, very small scanning angle (approx. 30°), using the sensor's integrated illumination. The cutting rings have a small edge on the inside, which is only visible in correct position.

In direct lighting the inner and the outer edge appear as two bright parallel lines. This effect is used for the reliable detection by means of pattern matching. With one single configuration it is possible to detect both sizes.
