Application example
For correct downstream assembly, rollers—such as those from roller or storage boxes—must enter the vibratory conveyor in the proper orientation. If a roller is misaligned, a sensor must reliably detect it and trigger an automatic return to the bunker via reverse air blast.
These rollers feature connecting bridges and a molded rolling surface. This unique geometry makes it difficult for conventional sensors to consistently distinguish between correct and incorrect positions.
The DTECT® Object 3D sensor uses a volume-based measuring principle to clearly differentiate between the two possible roller orientations. By restricting the field of view to the object size, detection remains stable and accurate—even if rollers jam in the conveyor. This eliminates the need for mechanical separation. Setup is fast and intuitive using the mechanical button on the rugged sensor housing. Integration is straightforward through a switching output, which also controls the compressed air for feedback.
