VISOR® Software Release 2.14

The new VISOR® software version 2.14 places a specific focus on AI-based text recognition. The centerpiece of the update is a new OCR (AI) detector for the VISOR® Code Reader vision sensor that reliably recognizes letters, numbers and codes, even in applications that until now were difficult to automate. This version also introduces new calibration options for SCARA and gantry robots and improves the user friendliness of the AI functions as well as integration into Industry 4.0.

New OCR (AI) detector

The new feature for optical character recognition (OCR) uses deep learning to enable reliable text recognition even in challenging industrial applications. While conventional rule-based OCR tools typically rely on a strong contrast between text and background, AI-powered OCR can reliably read text even on reflective surfaces or in low-contrast conditions. In addition, the detector offers a high degree of flexibility in terms of font, size, and layout, even when the text is curved or rotated.

New calibration feature for SCARA and gantry robots

Reliable robot guidance requires precision calibration. It ensures that the robot can repeatedly move to the correct part position accurately and consistently. The VISOR® vision sensor already offers accurate and user-friendly calibration for 6-axis industrial robots, including automated repeatability. With the new software update, these features have been expanded to include new Hand-Eye calibration and Base-Eye calibration for SCARA and gantry robots. That simplifies commissioning and enables reliable, vision-based automation of high-speed assembly applications. Manufacturers benefit from higher throughput rates, reduced error rates and seamless integration of image processing in existing SCARA and gantry-robot workflows.

Shared classifiers for multiple AI-based quality and completeness inspections

With this feature, users only need to train an AI detector once and can then reuse it for multiple jobs. This reduces setup effort and simplifies maintenance in applications with recurring inspection features.

Industry 4.0 compatibility

New functions for communication, archiving and result processing increase flexibility in the acquisition, saving and transmission of production data. This improves integration, traceability, and the opportunities for further data analysis.
