In the food industry, packaging is often automated and handled by robots. These robots pick up food from the conveyor belt and place it into the correct packaging. To achieve this, a vision camera is needed to accurately determine the X and Y positions of the food on the belt and send this information to the robot. At the same time, the system should verify details such as size, diameter, deviations, and cooking level.
The different product types, with their varying shapes, sizes, and colors, make it challenging to detect objects on the conveyor belt. A large volume of objects moving at high speeds must be accurately detected within milliseconds. Additionally, the sensor's limited space and the need for proper lighting must be taken into account.
The VISOR® Robotic easily meets the high demands of the packaging application by performing multiple tasks simultaneously. The BLOB detector enables rapid position determination of a large number of objects. Job changes are available in the software, allowing for responses to new tasks, such as producing new donut flavors, within milliseconds.
