The challenge

There are many electrical components on a circuit board. The camera must reliably distinguish the thermal paste from them. It is important that the sensor creates sufficient contrast for reliable evaluation - even if the brightness of the thermal paste resembles that of the component parts.

Our solution

The VISOR® Object combined with a polarizing filter provides the necessary contrast for optimal identification of the thermal paste.
With the correct settings in the color channel, the image can be easily binarized. This means that all pixels within a definable color range become black. Pixels with a deviating color value become white.
Using the BLOB detector, the thermal paste can be precisely checked with regard to its position, area, expansion, and presence.
Any surface with the same geometry can be inspected with a detector.
Through the "Free-form Tool," the BLOB detector can be set to inspect all areas where thermal paste should not be present. If the thermal paste is found in an undesired position, the sensor evaluates the part as "not OK."
