The Task
In automotive manufacturing, many components are made from organic polymers, including buttons, door handles, steering wheel controls, and interior trim parts. These components, which are mostly dark to deep black in color, are manufactured in injection molding machines, which can result in defects such as undermolding. To ensure consistent quality, defects must be detected immediately after parts are removed from the injection molding machine. Ideally, inspection should take place directly on the robot arm that handles the parts.
Our Solution
The FT 25-BH photoelectric diffuse sensorwith background suppression is the ideal choice for detecting black plastic parts thanks to its exceptional sensing performance. It provides reliable switching behavior, even with highly light-absorbing objects. Its BlueLight technology enables accurate detection at steep angles, overcoming the constraints of tight installation spaces. With its compact, rugged housing, the FT 25-BH is perfectly suited for mounting directly in the robot’s gripper.
Your Advantages
- Miniature sensor with BlueLight technology and precisely adjustable background suppression
- Reliable switching with highly light-absorbing , shiny, or transparent objects
- Stable operation even with highly reflective backgrounds thanks to SensoPart ASIC technology
- Easy alignment with a clearly visible light spot
- Flexible sensor adjustment via teach-in, control input, and IO-Link
- Robust, glass-fiber-reinforced plastic housing
