Reading of lasered datamatrix codes on sheet metal parts

Task definition

In production, components must be identified. There is a risk of confusion between similar components during assembly. High costs can be incurred if the wrong component is identified after installation.

The aim of this application is to clearly identify metal parts via a DMC before assembly. From this, information such as production location, date or batch number can be traced. The difficulty is that the surface of the lasered workpieces and the intensity of the marking can vary.
